Mr. Hall's HS English class is currently learning about the holocaust. Yesterday, Sully's mom, Melissa Popour spent the morning speaking with the high school English classes. She spoke about how she is Jewish and then talked with the students about what it is like to be Jewish and about her family history. She shared about her family's perseverance through the holocaust and how they escaped. She also taught the students about the creation of the Yiddish language and how it is still used today. Through her stories she shared how for Jewish people, Israel is meant to be their safe place where they can freely express their Judaism without social repercussions. She connected this to LMA being the safe place for students with learning disabilities. It is where people feel comfortable to be themselves and feel supported about who they are without social repercussions.
