Become a Tutor
Turning Pages Tutoring provides one-on-one in-person and remote tutoring for children and adults in reading, spelling, writing, and math using the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is multisensory, cumulative, systematic, diagnostic, and based on the science of reading.
General Job Description: Tutors work part-time with students for one-on-one sessions, providing reading, spelling, writing, or math instruction to students of all ages. Tutoring takes place in person at the Turning Pages office location, in schools, libraries, or remotely, during the day or after school hours.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan and implement individualized lessons
• Write progress reports
• Attend monthly in-services
• Communicate regularly with parents
Key Competencies
Language skills- Must possess:
• The ability to read, analyze, and interpret textbooks, technical procedures, and other written materials
• The ability to communicate information both orally and in writing to students, administrators, parents, and co-workers
• Computer Skills
• Familiarity with Google Chrome and Google Workspace is important, but training can be provided
Reasoning Abilities – Must possess:
• The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations
• The ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
• The ability to use information to develop realistic long-term and short-term plans for individual students
Other Skills and Abilities:
• Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents through oral and written communication
• Must be able to implement lessons based on objectives and the student’s needs and abilities

• Vision abilities include close vision and distance vision
• Employees will frequently be required to bend, reach above the head, and use fine motor skills
Work Location: Remote or in person at our office location, or area school, or area library
