Summer break offers students a much-needed pause; but for many, it can also lead to a
phenomenon known as the “summer slide,” when academic progress slows or regresses. That’s
where Lake Michigan Academy’s Summer Program steps in, offering an engaging, supportive
environment for students with learning differences to stay on track and build confidence.
Lake Michigan Academy’s 2025 five-week remediation summer program runs from June 9 to
July 10 and is designed for students entering grades 3 through 8 who learn differently. Whether
your child has a learning disability or ADHD, this five-week program focuses on building skills in
reading, writing, and math — using proven, research-based strategies. Led by our experienced
teachers, it’s all about helping students gain confidence, stay on track, and feel ready for the
next school year. Our goal is simple: to support every student in reaching their full potential,
both in and out of the classroom.
Unlike traditional summer school, this program isn’t just about catching up; it’s about building
skills, gaining momentum, and helping students thrive. With small group sizes and multisensory
instruction rooted in research-based methods, LMA’s experienced educators create a highly
individualized learning experience tailored to each child.
Academic sessions run Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a focus on
reading, writing, and math skills. Optional, one-on-one reading and math tutoring is also
available. This structured approach helps students retain critical concepts, reduce frustration,
and return to school in the fall feeling more prepared and empowered.
For students who often feel misunderstood in traditional classrooms, the LMA Summer Program
offers something different: a place where their learning styles are not only recognized but
embraced. By focusing on strengths and using evidence-based strategies, LMA helps students
rediscover their love for learning and build academic self-esteem.
Summer programs like LMA’s aren’t just about academics — they’re about giving students a
sense of success, stability, and support that can make a lasting difference. To learn more or
